Born in Suriname, South America Paul’s success with his art has taken him around the world with exhibitions from Germany, to Curacao, to New York. He studied from 1963 - 1967 to acquire a BFA from the Academy of Visual Arts Tilburg in Holland and continued studying from 1967 - 1970 to earn a MFA from Jan van Eyck Academy in Maastricht Holland.

Perhaps as Suriname is situated so close to the Amazon Jungle, Paul's works have been inspired by flora and fauna, its movement and its silhouette. Using accents of rich and unexpected color and brightness amongst natural tones Paul captures the juxtaposition of surprise and calm that viewing nature can convey. It is through his paintings that Paul hopes to communicate his own respect and passion for the natural environment.
